What if I don't do well in the class?
Failing a MC class can have negative impacts on your ability to get financial aid in the future.
It is not possible to remove a failing grade from your high school or college transcript.
Failing a class may result in you not being able to take more dual enrollment classes.
Where do I take my classes?
Any MC campus (Germantown, Rockville, or Silver Spring/Takoma Park).
Select classes offered at DHS
Distance Learning (all online, self paced with no live instruction)
Remote Learning (virtual, live classes)
Students in online classes may NOT stay at DHS for those classes.
Can I take classes at any time?
No. You must take classes at the beginning of the day,end of the day or after school hours. Do not schedule a class for the middle of the DHS school day. It will be denied.
If you take an 8 a.m. class at MC, you will come to DHS after your class. If you take a 2 p.m. class, you will leave before that for the day.
Most students come to DHS for morning classes and leave school early to take their MC class.
Will this go on my high school transcript?
YES! These classes will appear on both your high school and college transcripts. You may elect in advance to not have it on your high school transcript by submitting the proper paperwork BEFORE the class starts.
Attendance
Attendance in MC classes is mandatory. If a student misses 2 or more classes a professor may drop them from the class, you will be dropped from the class.
You MUST communicate with your MC professor about absences, not MCPS staff. MC sets their attendance policies.
If you miss the first class, you will be dropped from the class.
Transportation
You are responsible for your own transportation to and from MC. You may not stay at DHS for a remote learning class.
MCPS will be offering a morning shuttle to MC and an afternoon shuttle back to DHS beginning Fall 2023.
Will these credits transfer to other colleges?
Yes, these are college courses at MC and you will have a college transcript. You will have to request your MC transcript be sent to colleges in the future in addition to your high school transcript.
Public Maryland colleges will accept the credits. For more information visit the Articulation System for Maryland Colleges and Universities.
Always ask other colleges and universities if they will accept the credit.
