Greetings Burnt Mills Scholars and Parents! My name is Shana Bailey and I am excited to be the new K-2 School Counselor. I can't wait to meet each and every of you. I am thrilled to be a part of this dynamic team and have hit the ground running!
Before working as a Counselor, I was a DC Attorney for 14 years and a Parent Community Coordinator (MCPS) for 3 years. I am a married mother of two college kids and both are graduates of MCPS! Outside of school, I enjoy game and movie nights with my family.
I agree with Nelson Mandela when he said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” I also believe that, "The person with big dreams is more powerful than one with all the facts.– Albert Einstein
Our students feelings are valid and their mental health matters to me. I promise to do my best to meet them where they are and to always support them in the best way possible so they can thrive acedemically.

Welcome back Burnt Mills Scholars and families! My name is Sarah Dommu and I am excited to return to Burnt Mills as a School Counselor primarily working with grades 3-5. As a school counselor, I work with all students to ensure that they feel safe, included, and inspired to thrive socially and academically. This is done through a school wide systemic Social/Emotional program that includes classroom guidance lessons for all students as well as group counseling or individual counseling when needed. Outside of school, I enjoy running, spending time outside and traveling with my two children and my husband.

Parent Community Coordinators (PCC) help build and strengthen positive relationships with families and work collaboratively with school leaders, staff, and community organizations to develop and implement family engagement activities. They support families by guiding them through the school system, helping to build their ability to advocate for their student’s academic success, especially those who may be facing language, cultural or economic barriers.
