If a student arrives after class has started, the teacher records the tardy in our attendance system within the first 15 minutes of the period.
Yes. Teachers give verbal reminders to students who arrive late so they are aware the tardy has been recorded.
Each week, our Attendance Secretary runs a report to see which students have five or more tardies in any class period
Administrators, counselors, and security staff will follow up with the student. Consequences and supports are assigned based on our school’s tardy intervention plan. Please see the Student Handbook for further detail.
Yes. The school will notify parents/guardians when a consequence is assigned. Staff are also informed if a student will miss class to serve a consequence.
The updated process ensures consistency in how tardies are tracked, allows for quicker intervention, centralizes communication so students and families receive timely information, and reinforces the expectation that students arrive to class promptly.
We encourage families to:
Help students plan their morning routines to allow enough travel time.
Review attendance records regularly in the parent portal.
Reach out to the school if there are ongoing challenges that make it difficult for your student to arrive on time.
Students should be in class by the final bell. Students who are tardy or arrive to the building late will report to the main office to retrieve their tardy pass. Cumulative tardy reports will be collected in a database by administration. When a student reaches five cumulative tardies, the student will receive a consequence. With each additional tardy, the student will receive escalating consequences. In order for students to be given the opportunity to correct their behavior, tardies and consequences will restart at the beginning of the semester.
