Obtaining missed assignments during an absence:
Being in school, and class, every day is important for academic success. When students have to miss class, they will have the number of days they were absent (plus 1 day) to submit work up to a maximum of five (5) school days. Students may check Canvas and/or email their teacher for missed assignments. Student must communicate with their teacher about missed assessments.
School Messenger is an automated phone call generated when a student is absent from at least one class. It calls the number determined by the parent/guardian to communicate with them if their child misses a class. If a parent/guardian feels the need to have this number changed for more accurate communication (i.e.: cell or work phone), the parent should visit ‘Parent Connection’ to update their student’s phone numbers, view attendance, grades, set text or email alerts.
What if my child is at school but not attending class?
If a student misses more than 20% of the school day, they will be marked absent for the day. This ensures that students who are marked present receive the full benefit of instructional time.
Students who intentionally miss class without permission, including skipping to avoid assessments, may face disciplinary action. Skipping is documented in our system, and repeated incidents will be addressed through family contact, administrative intervention, and consequences outlined in the school’s behavior plan. When skipping occurs on a test or quiz day, it may be treated as an academic integrity issue, which means the student is not guaranteed the same assessment or full credit
This only applies to Seniors. All other students may not leave campus during lunch.
Administration reserves the right to revoke off-campus privileges due to behavior, failing grades, poor attendance, excessive tardies, or outstanding fine obligations.
Students leaving campus must be back at the required time. No excused tardies will be accepted. The illness must be reported immediately by the parent, not the student. Loss of senior lunch may occur when the student is tardy from lunch.
Students must stay on campus for occasional mandatory meetings or other events. Students must present Student I.D. when requesting to leave campus.
