Obtaining missed assignments during an absence:
Being in school, and class, every day is important for academic success. When students have to miss class, they will have the number of days they were absent (plus 1 day) to submit work up to a maximum of five (5) school days. Students may check Canvas and/or email their teacher for missed assignments.
School Messenger is an automated phone call generated when a student is absent from at least one class. It calls the number determined by the parent/guardian to communicate with them if their child misses a class. If a parent/guardian feels the need to have this number changed for more accurate communication (i.e.: cell or work phone), the parent should visit ‘Parent Connection’ to update their student’s phone numbers, view attendance, grades, set text or email alerts.
What if my child is at school but not attending class?
If a student misses more than 20% of a school day, they will be marked absent for that day. This is to ensure that students who are marked present receive a meaningful dosage of their education. This means that if a student misses scheduled class periods or school activities throughout the day, they may be considered absent for the day.
This only applies to Seniors. All other students may not leave campus during lunch.
Administration reserves the right to revoke off-campus privileges due to behavior, failing grades, poor attendance, excessive tardies, or outstanding fine obligations.
Students leaving campus must be back in the required time. No excused tardies will be accepted. The illness must be reported immediately by the parent, not the student. Loss of senior lunch may occur when the student is tardy from lunch.
Students must stay on campus for occasional mandatory meetings or other events. Students must present Student I.D. when requesting to leave campus.
