The Wisconsin Seal of Biliteracy (Seal) is an industry-recognized credential awarded to graduating high school students in school districts with a Department of Public Instruction (DPI)-approved program. The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District's Seal of Biliteracy program received this approval in April 2022.
The Wisconsin Seal of Biliteracy recognizes students who have demonstrated advanced achievement in bilingualism, biliteracy, and sociocultural competence in two or more languages. Students are encouraged to begin documenting their work toward the Seal of Biliteracy as early as their freshman year; however, the Seal of Biliteracy is only awarded to seniors each school year.

Why should students pursue a Seal of Biliteracy?
As our world becomes more and more connected, the need for a multilingual population is greater than ever before. Multilingualism can have a profound impact on students’ personal, academic, and professional lives.
