Hello, my name is Mr. Shane Raye. I am the lead teacher for the 5th grade band at Kromrey Middle School. I am looking forward to working with all of you in 5th grade! This will be my 16th year teaching in Middleton. I am originally from Buffalo, New York. I graduated SUNY Potsdam in 1992 as a Music Ed Major. Trumpet is my main instrument but I have learned to play all the instruments in the band. My first job after graduating college was teaching in a very rural school district (K-12 all in one building)! In 1995, I moved to Appleton, Wisconsin and taught 10 years in Manitowoc, WI. During my time there I taught 5th and 6th grade band as well as elementary general music. I moved to Middleton in the summer of 2005.
I taught 5th grade band at all 6 elementary schools until 5th grade moved to the middle schools. I have been full time at Kromrey since the new school was completed. I teach 5th grade band but also help with 6th, 7th, and 8th grade band. My wife, Amy, is a 5th grade classroom teacher at Glacier Creek Middle School. My daughter, Hazel, will be a 1st grader at West Middleton Elementary and my step daughter, Cozy, is a para educator at Kromrey. I guess you can say our whole family is all about education! Some of my favorite activities include curling in the winter and golf in the summer. I love the outdoors, especially camping, fishing, and hiking. I’m a big sports fan and have adopted the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers as my favorite teams! I love teaching band, especially beginners, and am excited to work with all the new students!
