The Middlesex County Magnet Schools’ Adult Education programs include the Adult Evening School, certificate programs, apprenticeship training, customized training and special programs, and programs in adult cosmetology and practical nursing. There’s something for everyone, with a variety of courses ranging from electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and construction trades, to computer applications, computer assisted drafting, health and safety education – and beyond.

ARCHITECTURE AND CONSTRUCTION

Introduction to 3D Modeling and 3D Printing

In this course students will receive a solid foundation on the fundamentals of using AutoCAD software. You will learn the 3D commands of AutoCAD and inventor software in order to create 3D parts, 3D assemblies, how to generate drawing layouts, how to set-up a file for 3D printing, and the basics of operating a 3D printer. You will also be introduced to a laser cutter -engraver.

 Home Repair and Maintenance 

This course will focus on saving the homeowner money.  The homeowner will gain knowledge and new skills in routine home repairs and preventive maintenance that all homeowners need over time but afraid to try on their own.

This course will include safety with ladders and common tools.  This course will give the homeowner the confidence needed to tackle most problems such as plumbing leaks, unclogging a drain, fixing a toilet, repairing door hinges, locks and doors that stick, weather-stripping, caulking doors and windows, repairing tiles, fixing electrical switches, light fixtures and outlets, repair wholes in drywall painting both the interior and exterior of your house.

You will get an understanding of basic home repairs and how to talk to contractors, technicians and home inspectors without being intimidated.

OSHA 30 Hour 


Outreach Program for


Construction Industry


The OSHA 30 hour Construction Industry Outreach Training Course is a comprehensive safety course designed for anyone involved in the construction industry.  Topics in this course include; OSHA policies, procedures, and standards, as well as construction safety and health principles. Topics include scope and application of the OSHA construction standard. Special emphasis is placed on those areas that are most hazardous, using OSHA standards as a guide.

Refrigerant Handling Certification


This course present information and service practices needed to meet EPA requirements to contain, conserve, and reuse refrigerants. It will prepare the student to take the technician certification test developed by the Refrigeration  Service Engineers Society (RSES) and is approved by the EPA.  Students that successfully complete the course earn Refrigerant Handling Certification.

MANUFACTURING

CNC Machining

Computerized Numerical Controlled (CNC) Machining is an introductory class that addresses the fundamentals of programming, setting up and operating CNC equipment to prepare you for an exciting and challenging career in the world of manufacturing. From milling machines and lathes to 3D printers and robotic automation, G and M codes are the core language used to program these exciting and versatile pieces of equipment. This class will cover the basics of G and M codes, tool and workpiece setting, program formatting and execution for both subtractive (CNC milling and turning) and additive (3D Printing) manufacturing applications, complete with hands on examples.

Welding Level 1

The Welding Level 1 Course is designed for anyone with little welding experience. Students are provided learning experiences through lecture, demonstration, and hands-on practice to advance their skills in; Shielded Metal Arc Welding  (SMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), plasma cutting, basic blue-print interpretation, brazing and out of position welding.

Automotive Maintenance 

and Light Repair AMLR

The main feature of this program is for the student to learn the life of a technician and consumer skills. The process is accomplished by performing or observing essential automotive maintenance and light repair skills on student vehicles. we will incorporate oil changes, filter and bulb changes,  tire and brake replacement, steering and suspension replacement, alignments, exhaust repairs, and tune-ups.  The benefits combing money saved for a DIY-er along with newly acquired technician skills, time and safety gained with flat tire changes and jumpstart life skills, and sharpened consumer skills for vehicle shopping or repairs. Students learn at a pace accommodated for them, guided by an ASE Certified Master Technician with G1 and L1 Certifications.
