Guidance Curriculum Highlight
Based on the data derived from the needs assessment, it became evident that self-control was a topic identified as highly necessary for students across all grade levels. In response to this finding, the counselor conducted classroom lessons that focused on coping strategies and anger management. As part of these lessons, the counselor introduced a set of new "calm down bags" to the students. These bags contained tools and resources aimed at assisting students in effectively managing their emotions when they experienced upset or frustration.
During the lesson, students actively engaged in discussions on how to utilize the tools within the calm down bags to regain their composure when feeling distressed. The session concluded with an interactive activity in which students were encouraged to identify strategies that could assist them in regulating their emotions before they reached a point of emotional outburst.
