Cultural blues & rep awards
Representative Awards Criteria (for ALL junior & senior students):
Any student may satisfy these criteria to qualify for the Award:
To have consistently represented the school in their Arts field
To have been enthusiastic and diligent at rehearsals or equivalent, showing a positive attitude in all areas
Demonstrated exemplary behaviour on and off the stage, in/out of the classroom or rehearsal room
Please note there are specific requirements for the following arts kaupapa. This is all at the discretion of the Arts Committee and HODs.
Drama
Crew in major NCEA senior production / combined school production - must have held an major crew role (e.g. lighting /sound / projection / stage managing ) OR been a crew member on at least two or more JMC school productions.
Acting in the Theatrefest or School Production - must have been cast in a lead or company role
Shakespeare - Student must represent JMC in the Sheilah Winn Festival of Shakespeare regional competition in Ōtepoti as an actor, director, or both
Improv/Theatresports - the student must either represent JMC at Ōtepoti Secondary Improv Club (ŌSIC) or be an active member of the Senior Improv team (e.g. represent JMC in the Winter STAC exchange - if applicable)
** Could be a combination of a range of the criteria above for a Performing Arts Rep Award
English
Debating - student must have been a member of the Senior JMC1 Debating Team, participated actively in the Dunedin Schools Debating Competition and regularly attended practices
English - Creative Writing - produced a range of well crafted writing independently and submitted these for publication and competitions.
Music
Rockquest/Bandquest - must have represented the school by performing at regional heats and/or finals.
Choir - must have represented the school by performing in The Big Sing, and either the school fete or prizegiving.
Jazz Band - must have represented the school by performing in the Dunedin Youth Jazz Festival, and either the school fete or prizegiving.
Chamber Music - must have represented the school by performing at the Chamber Music competition.
Te Ao Māori
Kapa Haka - been a part of the group for at least 3 consecutive terms. Supported the school in at least three of the following: Ngā Manu Kōrero, Mana Pounamu, Polyfest, Te Hautonga or Senior Prize Giving.
Te Ao Māori - Ngā Manu Kōrero - compete in the regional Ngā Manu Kōrero competition & attend workshops provided by Te Pae Mahuri
TIC/HOD's put forward all names or Rep Awards any given year.
