Ways to Help

Community Care Cards

What do I do?

Write a letter, draw a picture, or make a card. Share a little part of your life, express your artistic
talent, make someone smile, and inspire hope. All ages can participate!

Who is it for?

Elderly residents who have been confined to nursing homes without visitors, healthcare workers who are at the front lines of the pandemic, and daily workers who keep the facilities clean and running and the residents fed. All are stressed and need our support!

  • Wynhoven Nursing Home in Marrero

  • Our Lady of Wisdom in Algiers

  • Chateau of Notre Dame Uptown

  • Poydras Home Uptown

  • Lambeth House Uptown

Where do I take it?

Bins will be set outside daily at the locations below. Their contents will be collect at the end of each week. You and your neighbors can contribute multiple times!

  • McGehee School | 2343 Prytania Street

  • 5528 Laurel Street

  • 883 Navarre Avenue

  • 7630 Jeannette Street

If you set up a substation in your neighborhood, let your neighbors know and plan to transfer from your bin to these other locations on a weekly basis.

Is it safe?

Please do not congregate at drop-off sites but instead just put your cards in the box. Many of these boxes are within walking or biking distance from your homes! Retirement centers have protocols for holding mail until it is no longer contaminated by COVID19, so they will handle the distribution on their end.
