Around 500 B.C., Aryan India was invaded by the Persians who conquered the Indus River Valley. The Persian rulers were then conquered by the Greeks in 327 B.C., led by Macedonian general, Alexander the Great. After Alexander left the South Asian empire the Maurya Empire began.
