An expression of interest is a written application outlining you wish to be considered for a project or program.
To be a Gig Agency artist, you must prepare and submit an expression of interest.
Submit your expression of interest to performingartsenquiries@mcc.act.edu.au
Include the following information:
100 word (max) overview of your act (Eg: Names, styles performed, performance achievements, etc.).
Full list of repertoire that clients may choose from when booking your act.
Photo of you/your ensemble for marketing purposes (high-resolution preferred).
Proposed price scheme.
You will be contacted to discuss your act and attend a quick audition. If you are successful at an audition, you will be added to the featured artists listing for clients to select you for their next gig.
A decent set list of 5-10 pieces is advantageous but not compulsory. Repeating pieces in your set is fine if you have plenty of songs in your set list.
A good range of art, popular and folk styles is always advantageous but not compulsory. You can be a specialist or a generalist, that's up to you.
Soloists sound best with backing tracks. Create a playlist of backing tracks on your phone and use a portable bluetooth speaker for maximum efficiency.
Repertoire compilations from movies, television shows, popular tunes with backing tracks are always effective for "filler". Many are easy to learn but effective to perform.
Larger ensembles must know how to set up all of their own amplifiers, electronic gear, drum kit and PA system. You must also be confident negotiating access to these resources with Performing Arts staff.
