Michigan Boys State and Girls State

Boys State and Girls State are educational programs sponsored by the American Legion and Legion Auxiliary Departments across the country to help young men and women learn about government and how it functions. Our motto is “Learn by Doing.” The educational staff’s goal is to facilitate the learning process by giving the citizens of Boys State and Girls State an opportunity to govern themselves and run their own state.

Students who attend Boys State or Girls State and are descendants of a wartime-era veteran may apply for the opportunity to win $20,000 from the Samsung American Legion Scholarship.
