Use of the Implementation Cycle
Our Counseling Advisory Council brings so much value to our school. Looking at the data obtained and the needs of our students, we were able to collaborate and decide on best practices to address our greatest need. Self-regulation was an area of highest need overall. As a result, additional small groups were created in order to provide more assistance with self-regulation skills and strategies that students could use throughout the day and throughout times of high frustration and anxiety, In addition, teachers were present during the self-regulation guidance lessons and were able to learn the techniques that were being taught to the students so that they can also promote these strategies in the classroom as the first response. Our CAC's input in improving the overall student is evident. As areas of concern are brought up, collaboration and feedback is provided in order to assist our students. During morning announcements, daily messages, also known as Words of Wisdom from Project Wisdom are embedded with the IB Learner Profile and read each morning with the intention that students will have that moment to be reflective and apply what they have learned. A closing message at the end of announcements was also implemented for students to meditate on and as a method to promote a focused and growth mindset morning.
