ESG Management

As we enter into a post-pandemic world we will see a marked shift in focus toward sustainable business practice. Environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) is becoming increasingly central to business success and longevity.

MCA acknowledges this and has developed a dedicated department: MCA GEO. We help organisations achieve their sustainability goals using our wealth of industry experience and sustainability acumen. Considerate of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and in line with key regulations from the IMO's MEPC, we have designed management frameworks focussed on improving key ESG areas:

  • Emissions and Decarbonisation

  • Effluents and Waste

  • Ecological Impact

  • Water Consumption

  • Health, Safety and Emergency Management

  • Employment Practices

  • Anti-corruption

Our ESG service aims to provide your business with a holistic yet flexible sustainability package, which considers all the environmental, social and governance aspects that effect or are affected by your organisation. As a baseline, this is to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards and obligations. Moreover, the process is designed to future-proof your business in a global market which puts increasing pressure on sustainability, carbon reduction and circularity.

Carbon Management

Decarbonisation is undoubtably the largest sustainability hurdle the industry must overcome. To meet this challenge we have developed a carbon-focussed service which deals with the most pressing regulatory and managerial issues faced by marine businesses:

Amendments to Annex VI of MARPOL states that, from 1st January 2023 all ships over 400 GT must calculate and report their Energy Efficiency Index, which must be periodically lowered in line with the EEDI (Energy Efficiency Design Index) reference curve. These changes are on top of existing measures that relate to fuel efficiency and show the increasing regulatory pressure being put on owners and operators.

MCA GEO has an in-depth knoweldge of the regulatory landscape and can assist your company at individual or fleet level with:

  • Developing a Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP)

  • Calculating Carbon Intensity Indicators (CII)

  • Effective use of the Energy Efficiency Operational Indicator (EEOI)

  • Production and certification of the EEXI Technical File

  • Development of Ship Fuel Oil Consumption Data Collection Plans

  • Development of Safety Management Systems (in line with the ISO45000 family)

  • Development of Energy Management Systems (in line with ISO5001)

  • Development of Environmemtal Management Systems (in line with ISO14001)

  • Auditing and certification of all Management Systems

Environmental Management

MCA GEO specialises in delivering the most effective managerial system to assess and reduce your impact on the environment. Our tailor-made environmental management systems (EMS) provide a full assessment of all the key environmental aspects and impacts that effect or are affected by your business operations.
