Engineering

Project Lead the Way (PLTW) is a national program that creates curriculum and provides extensive teacher training to foster education in STEM fields. The design of the courses is intended to engage students that thrive with a hands-on approach to learning through experience. From launching space explorations to delivering safe, clean water to communities, engineers find solutions to pressing problems and turn their ideas into reality.

PLTW Engineering empowers students to step into the role of an engineer, adopt a problem-solving mindset, and make the leap from dreamers to doers. The courses engage students in compelling, real-world challenges that help them become better collaborators and thinkers.

Students will learn valuable, in-demand skills that they can use in high school or any career path they take...  PLTW is for all students!

Principles of Engineering

Utilizing the Activity-Project-Problem-Based (APPB) teaching and learning pedagogy students explore a broad range of engineering topics, including mechanisms, electricity, the strength of structures and materials, and automation.
Students develop skills in problem solving, researching, and designing while learning strategies for design process documentation, collaboration, and presentation.
Syllabus

Aerospace Engineering

Aerospace Engineering ignites students’ learning in the fundamentals of atmospheric and space flight.
In this course students design and test components related to flight such as an airfoil, propulsion system, and a rocket as well as exploring orbital mechanics and alternate aerospace applications such as wind turbines and parachutes.
Syllabus

Honors Engineering Design and Development

This is a capstone course in which students use the engineering skills they have learned to research, validate, and justify a technical problem.
After carefully defining the problem, teams of students will design, build, and test their solution.
Finally, student teams will present and defend their original solution to an outside panel.
