Horticulture is a mixture of practical activities of preparing plants, nurturing and cultivating plants to share as gifts or for eating. Alongside the care of plants and flowers there is also a space for equipment maintenance and safety. It is an opportunity to explore plants and how we can use them as a food source and as potential income or money making schemes. Careers in ground keeping, rugby parks, gardens with funky designs and flowers are things to learn about and try. A typical lesson in Horticulture will be tending to your plants, using gardening tools and to learn about how plants function so you as a grower can maximise profits if you were a commercial grower. There will be opportunities to think of Horticulture as a business enterprise seeking maximum profits for little expenditure, after all the Sun is free….let’s use it!

This course would focus on healthy living (including healthy thinking), meta learning (achieved by working through the ‘Superbrain’ master class by Jim Kwik), mindfulness, working on activities to stimulate the brain as well as how and why we should work to create a healthy brain - this would be achieved through things such as yoga, tai chi, walking, meditation, chess, reading, nutrition, philosophy etc.
“Mindfulness is simply being aware of what is happening right now without wishing it were different; enjoying the pleasant without holding on when it changes (which it will); being with the unpleasant without fearing it will always be this way (which it won’t).”
