Assistant Professor of STEM Education

Kremen School of Education & Human DevelopmentCalifornia State University, Fresnoldguzman@csufresno.edu

As a mathematics teacher educator, I support prospective and practicing K-8 teachers to transform their classrooms with equity-oriented practices that value young people as knowers and creators. My work as a practitioner-researcher embraces humanizing approaches to participatory research that center relationships of dignity and care.

I earned my PhD in mathematics education with a focus on teacher education at Michigan State University, where I was a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow and University Enrichment Fellow. I am currently an Assistant Professor of STEM Education at Fresno State.

Although I teach muggles in my day job, I also manage a YouTube channel, WizardPhD, focused on the mobile game Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. Feel free to follow me there for wizarding and muggle adventures!

“The single story creates stereotypes, and the problem with stereotypes is not that they are untrue, but that they are incomplete. They make one story become the only story.”
