Allow your child some “down time” right after school. Let him or her play, have a light, healthy snack, etc.
Set aside a clean, quiet, well-lit place as homework space - away from loud noise, TV, video, and computer games.
Set aside a special time for homework. A stress-free time when you can be available for guidance.
Have the needed supplies at home – pencils, crayons, scissors, glue, etc. (See the supply list.)
Be there to assist your child – But do NOT do their work for them. Reward their hard work with words of praise, special family time, reading an extra book before bed, etc.
Let the teacher know if your child is having difficulty with the assignments.
What you do to begin good homework habits today will pay off for years to come!
