How to Start English Classes at MATC

Step 1: Ask for Information 

If you have questions, talk to an ESL advisor in the Community Education Hub.

• Fill out this ESL form and an advisor will contact you.

Step 2: Apply to MATC   

This is only for new students.

Complete an online ESL Application. Watch the video to learn how to fill out the application. Write down your username and ID number.   Talk to an ESL advisor if you need help. 

Step 3: Take the English Test

Take a 30-minute English test. The test helps tell your English level. Ask an ESL advisor to make an appointment for you or make the appointment yourself.

Step 4: Register for English Classes

After your test, make an appointment and meet with an advisor to pick your classes.

Our English classes are for people in the Milwaukee area who want to improve their English.  

F1 Visa Students:  Our classes are not "intensive," so F1 Visa holders cannot take ESL at MATC. If you have an F1 Visa and want to start a college degree, please contact Karla Huerta at international@matc.edu or visit our international student website for more information.
