Welcome to Intro to Psychology!
Dear Students,
Welcome to Intro to Psychology! I’m excited to begin this journey with you as we explore the fascinating world of human behavior, thought, and emotion. Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behavior, and throughout the year we’ll dive into topics like brain function, personality, memory, development, mental health, and much more.
This class will ask you to think deeply, question assumptions, and make real-world connections between what we learn and the world around you—and within you. You’ll have opportunities to discuss major theories, analyze case studies, reflect on your own experiences, and develop a strong foundation in psychological science.
To stay organized and successful in this course, each student is required to have a 1-inch, 3-ring binder dedicated only to Intro to Psychology. Your binder must include 8 divider tabs—one for each of the major units we’ll cover, plus one section for loose leaf notebook paper for notes, assignments, and reflections.
🧠 Binder Expectations:
We will conduct monthly binder checks, each worth 50 points, to ensure your materials are neat, complete, and organized.
These checks will help you stay on track and be prepared for quizzes, projects, and discussions.
📌 Binder due date: TBD
Just having it ready and set up by then will earn you 15 points—easy points, so don’t miss it!
As an Intro to Psychology student, you are expected to:
Keep up with assigned readings, class notes, and vocabulary.
Participate actively in class discussions and group activities.
Engage with psychological topics with curiosity and respect.

This class will challenge you to think critically and develop insights into human behavior that go far beyond the textbook. I’m looking forward to the journey we’ll take together and can’t wait to see how you grow as a learner and thinker.
Let’s make it a great year!
Sincerely,
Mr. Vilk
