The English Language Learner (ELL) program is designed to support students whose first language is not English. The goal of the program is to help students develop their English language skills so they can fully participate in academic activities, communicate effectively, and succeed in school.
In the ELL program, students receive specialized instruction in the four key areas of language: listening, reading, speaking, and writing. Our approach focuses on building both their language abilities and their confidence in using English in everyday situations and classroom settings.
Students in the ELL program may receive individualized support or work in small groups with a teacher trained to support language development. The program is designed to be flexible and responsive to each child’s needs, whether they are just beginning to learn English or are already becoming more proficient.
Our goal is to ensure that students can fully participate in the general education curriculum, communicate effectively in school, and reach their full potential in listening, reading, speaking and writing of the English language.
Hello! I’m Mrs. Suarez, and I am one of the English Language Specialists. I have a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Bloomsburg University and a Master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Grand Canyon University. I have been teaching for eleven years and this is my third year at MaST Community Charter School III.
I am passionate about creating a classroom where all students feel comfortable and excited to learn. My goal is to help your child improve their language skills and grow socially and emotionally. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns during the year. I look forward to working with you and your child!
I’m Mrs. Hamilton and I’m so excited to welcome your child to our English Language classroom! This is my second year at Mast III. I have learned so much from my students, and I am thrilled to continue supporting them in their language-learning journey. Whether your child is in elementary school or high school, my goal is to create a positive, inclusive space where they feel confident and motivated to improve their English skills. Together, we will focus on building confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, so your child can communicate with ease and achieve success in real-life situations. I am here to help them every step of the way, and I can’t wait to see how much your child grows this year!
Each year, students in English learner programs take the ACCESS for ELLs language proficiency test. The test measures academic English language proficiency for students learning English in our school and throughout our state.
Teachers in our school use this information to help them make decisions about instruction for your child. Teachers also use these test scores to monitor the progress your child makes toward English proficiency.
ACCESS testing will begin this year on January 6, 2025 and will conclude on February 21, 2025.
Printed score reports will arrive by June 13th and will be sent home in the mail with your child's final report card.
