Annual Notice Statement to MCS for 2025-2026 School Year
This document provides annual notice of the College Credit Plus (CCP) program for the 2025-2026 school year to Mason City School students in grades 6 through 11 and their parents.
Please take a few minutes to review updated information sent out regarding CCP students and FERPA law.
The above link will walk you through step by step what needs to be completed for a student to apply to a local area college. This process will help to determine eligibility for participation in the College Credit Plus program. Admission decisions will be made independently by the college, not by Mason High School. Please be mindful that this dual enrollment program is a student-driven opportunity where kids will be treated like college-level students and will be expected to conduct themselves with a higher level of maturity and academic performance.
Once you have had an opportunity to review the information provided, please let us know if you have any questions specific to your participation in the College Credit Plus Program.

CCP Important Reminders:
To determine the maximum number of credit hours a student can register for each academic year, use the following formula:
30 - (NUMBER OF HIGH SCHOOL ONLY CREDITS X 3) = MAXIMUM # OF CCP CREDITS PER YEAR
EXAMPLE:
30 - 7 total high school credits X 3 (1 high school credit = 3 IHE semester hours) = 21 total credits = 9 CCP credits available to take per year (this includes summer, fall, & spring term)
**All students completing Financial Literacy through College Credit Plus must also complete CPR/AED training and submit a copy of their completion certificate to receive credit for the course.
All costs related to the CPR/AED course are the responsibility of the student.
Certification is not required; students must show evidence of completion of a CPR/AED course.
Courses can be found online (Red Cross, etc.) or oftentimes through local organizations such as the local fire department.
The completion certificate should be sent to the MHS CCP administrator or counselor upon completion of the course. The course will not be added to the student’s transcript until this is received.
