Check out THIS TUTORIAL on making music. The tutorial was created by the folks at Ableton. It's a really user-friendly intro to the basic concepts of music making. Work through the first two chapters, up to and including "Beats". We'll check out other topics later on in the course.
Once you have completed the tutorial fill out the form below with two questions. These could be about something you didn't understand, or something you'd like to hear more about in class, or about some broader idea.
Use the video to learn how to access drum machines in Logic and create your own patterns.

Basic Hip-Hop Beat
This project is short and sweet:
Use Logic Pro to create 4 different beats using a drum machine.
Each beat should be created in its own project. Title them Beat 1, Beat 2, Beat 3, and Beat 4.
Try different tempos and explore different drum machines as an opportunity to see what sounds you like the best.
When completed post you completed beats to your digital music website.
The goal of this project is simple. It is just a chance to get you exploring the various drum machines and to give you some practice at creating your own beats in Logic.
You are going to create an entire song using the pre-recorded loops.
Select a form that you want to organize your song around. Example: Verse/Chorus/Verse/Chorus/Bridge/Chorus
Remember the rule of 4's when creating each section.
As you work, if there are things you want to do, like edit or change a loop in some way, just ask!
You will share your finished project by posting an .mp3 recording to your website.
Along with sharing your song on your website add a textbox under the link to your song and report the following:
Explain what sounds you used and why.
You've been hired by an ad agency that wants you to create the background music for a 1 minute advertisement that will be played during this year's Super Bowl. You'll need to craft some music that captures the essence of the product you're helping to sell.
You may use any of the skills available to you in Logic Pro to create this short piece. It will need to be a clean and tight 1 minute with a clear beginning and ending. At a cost of several million for every 30 seconds of advertising, 1 minute is all the company can spare!
Choose from one of the products below. Feel free to look them up online to learn more about them if you want to help figure out how best to musically represent them.
When you song is complete, upload it to your website, THEN provide a write up telling us the product that you chose, the feeling you were trying to create, and how you went about doing that with your music.
Ford F150 Lightning
M&M's
Disney World
Pepsi
You are going to use the provided audio file (found in Google Classroom) to create a 2 minute (+ or - a few seconds) song. You may cut up the audio any way you see fit and match it with whatever loops you find appropriate. Additionally, you may create your own beat track(s).
Once completed you should post the song to your portfolio website and turn in the link to your website via Google Classroom
