You will be using GoogleSites this semester to create a portfolio of your work and to create various blog posts about your work. Let's get you set up!
Insert a two item layout on your webpage and use it to share a link to a song that you really like and a link to a song that you do NOT like.
Use the provided text boxes to include why you like the one song and why you don't like the other. Want an example? Check out my model page, linked above.
Use the video and follow along in Logic Pro to create an exact replica of this short project.
As we begin to explore synthesizers we're going to take a look at how sound is created and what it looks like. The word of the day is "Timbre"
A look at some basic types of sound waves
Ambient music is music that doesn't rely on traditional form structures. Additionally, it does not have the heavy emphasis on rhythm, melody, and harmony that we hear in pop music. Instead, it is entirely about creating a certain mood or feeling and leaning into it for extended periods of time. It may be music designed to be played in the background at a store or a theme park. Often this type of music relies heavily on the use of synths to create atmosphere.
You are going to create a 2 minute ambient song in Logic Pro. (It may be longer if you choose)
Your song should include at least one synth track that you can use has a drone throughout the piece. After that, you can include other tracks or sound effects to help complete your atmosphere.
When you've finished your track, post it to your portfolio page and include a brief description of the "vibe" you tried to create with you music and why you chose the sounds that you did for your music.
Here's an example of a finished product from my portfolio page.
You are going to be creating your own take on the first movement of Beethoven's 5th Symphony. To do so, you will be provided with a set of samples that you can access along with tracks that include all the individual instruments played in the first movement. You'll find the folders in our shared google drive.
Below are some resources to get you started or to help spark some ideas.
Instructions:1) Create a new project in Logic Pro and make a short song (60-90 seconds in length)
You can use loops, play tracks in, use drum machines, however you want to create the song; its up to you.
2) You song needs to have at least 5 simultaneous tracks. (That's 5 or more tracks playing at the same time)
3) Once you have something you like, take the time to mix the track. Paying special attention to where you want each instrument to be heard. Think about those visuals of the instruments on stage.
4) Give your song a creative title and post it to your portfolio website
5) Last thing: add a text box and provide a brief write-up explaining what you were trying to accomplish with your mix of the song. Then publish your site and attach the link to the assignment in google classroom.
