Wednesday, December 4 the Global Scholars Program will be hosting a guest speaker event at the MHS Library Garage. Our guest, Mrs. Webb is a special ed teacher at PVMS and she will share her experiences growing up in South Africa. She was a young student during the Apartheid government, experienced the end of Apartheid in middle school and lived in South Africa for a number of years to experience life in post-Apartheid South Africa. She will share these experiences and others with students after school on December 4th.
One true testament of the success and impact of a program is looking at where students are years after completion of that program. Starting in October we will be highlighting former Mukwonago students and Global Scholar Alumni. Our Global Scholars Blog will highlight Mukwonago Alumni and experiences they have had after receiving the Global Scholars Certificate to help show the impact of Global Education at Mukwonago High School. The Rotary Club offers and annual scholarship to Global Scholar students to attend the World Affairs Seminar at Carroll University in Waukesha. Read the blog post to learn about Susie Martin's experience at the World Affairs Seminar over the summer of 2024.
Global Scholar students met after school to meet with Will McGinniss. Will is a former band member of AudioAdreneline, cofounder of the Hands and Feet Project (orphanage in Haiti) and cofounder of Haiti Made. See our updated blog with details of the presentation.
Social Studies teachers are planning a trip to England, France & the Netherlands in 2025. Follow the link to read the blog and to get more information. Participation in the trip can contribute to the "Global Citizenship Requirement."
Phoebe Crowe is a Mukwonago High School graduate from 2015 and is currently serving in the Peace Corps in Fiji. She has been in Fiji for just over three months and will be speaking with us about her experiences and role in the Peace Corps thus far.
