Become a Peer Tutor - Applications Are Now Open for the 2024-2025 School Year!
The Peer Tutoring Program is an opportunity to connect with peers of different grade levels, while also contributing to your school community. This is a leadership role, but it can be as much or as little commitment as you would like it to be. Becoming a Peer Tutor symbolizes your desire and commitment to helping others and strengthening your community. Additionally, Peer Tutors earn community service hours from leading peer tutoring sessions. This is a great opportunity to earn community hours during school hours, while impacting your school community in a positive way.
Additionally, this position will be a meaningful activity on college applications as it demonstrates the qualities of leadership, compassion, communication, community service, dedication, and commitment towards a specific cause.
This position is flexible to your availability, containing only a few requirements to be apart of the program. When you submit your application, there is the option to provide your availability and we will do our best to accommodate it as peer tutoring requests accumulate. In order to be a successful peer tutor, you must be willing to effectively communicate with you assigned student as well as with Mrs. Wildman and Giuliana Nazzaro. If at anytime you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to them at rwildman@masconomet.org and gpnazzaro@mrsdmail.org.
Please note that there will be meetings the first Friday of every month from 7:00 am - 7:30 am before school. These meetings are mandatory, and will help the program continue to grow and improve.
A Note About Academic Honesty: Your position as a Peer Tutor is to guide and help students through concepts and topics in their selected subject. However, directly completing a tutee's homework or an assignment that has not yet been graded is prohibited.
Currently, freshmen are only eligible to become peer tutors if they are on the honors track in math, and are interested in peer tutoring Algebra I (CP or H). Freshmen can also become a peer tutor for performing arts. More opportunities for freshmen will become available as the program continues.
