Applications for Sixth Form are welcomed from current Matthew Arnold Year 11 students as well as external students from other schools.

For entry into Sixth Form we use a system based on a students' APS (average point score) from their GCSE results to enable students to select the most appropriate subjects at A-Level. Our minimum entry requirements, in order to begin A-Level's, are that students achieve at least five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English language and mathematics at a grade 4 and students must also meet the APS of their chosen subject.

In addition to their main A-Level subjects, students may also choose to study for an extended project qualification (EPQ).
For students choosing maths, in addition to their main subjects they may also choose further maths as an extra subject.
If students wish to study a 4th A-Level they will require an APS of 7.25 from their GCSE results. This will be agreed with the Head of Sixth Form if you gain a place in September 2026.

If you are in Year 11 at Matthew Arnold you should have received an email with log in details for our online system with Applicaa. Please contact Mrs Kinch at ckinch@maschool.org.uk if you have any issues with completing the application form.
