In Sixth Form we focus on knowing and supporting our students through the below:
A dedicated and experienced Sixth Form tutor team - students will see their tutor every day.
A dedicated Deputy Year Leader who works with students individually both on academic and pastoral support and provides:
-Wellbeing/emotional support.
- Support with study skills e.g. organisation, time management, revision strategies etc.
- Subject specific academic support.
- Support with transition into Sixth Form if needed.
- Monitoring attendance/support with assistance in increasing attendance.
A clear system of identifying when students are not meeting their potential and system of intervention.
A focus on attendance as this is key to obtaining good results.
Support for life beyond Sixth Form through tutor time and Careers Advisor.
A highly effective university and apprenticeship applications support system.
An Oxbridge support group for students wishing to apply for Oxbridge and medicine etc
Financial Support - The 16-19 Bursary Fund is available for students with low household income.
We also support students to develop their independence, team and leadership skills through the below:
We expect year 12 students to participate in community service.
We offer a wide range of opportunities for students to develop their extra-curricular strengths and interests; Debate club, Charity Committee, Duke of Edinburgh Award, School Council, Diversity Committee.
We provide all students with opportunities to take on roles of responsibility and develop leadership and team skills - the “soft” skills that employers and universities highly value; Head Prefects, Senior and School Prefects, Matthew Arnold Peer Supports (MAPS)
Enrichment Stars - Student achievement in their enrichment activities will be recognised with our star system.
