At Martin Luther School, we uphold the ASCA School Counselor Professional Standards & Competencies as our guiding principles. These standards delineate the mindsets and behaviors essential for school counselors to meet the rigorous demands of our profession and address the diverse needs of pre-K–12 students. Whether a new or experienced school counselor, these standards and competencies ensure you are well-equipped to establish, maintain, and enhance a comprehensive school counseling program. Our commitment extends to fostering academic achievement, facilitating career planning, and nurturing social/emotional development for every student at Martin Luther School.
Counseling Center Mission Statement
Set up a plan to help students reach their academic goals by regularly checking in on each student’s progress, recognizing gaps in learning or places where a student excels, and creating a plan to help a student reach her/his highest potential.
Guide and assist students in finding a future plan for themselves after graduating High School by setting college/career goals, discussing classes that build the best transcript for each student, and providing a timeline and resources for easy research on possible colleges and careers.
Assess, investigate, and counsel students when issues arise that block their learning, whether from within school or without. Listen to the student about the issue, assist the student in coming up with personal solutions, and collaborate with other helping adults to create a plan.
