Malala became the advocate for girls education when she was still a child which resulted in the Taliban issuing a death threat against her. On the 9th October 2012, a Taliban gunman shot Malala three times in the head point blank when she was travelling home from school. When Malala was sixteen she gave a speech to the United Nations. The 2014 Nobel Peace Prize was shared, in two equal parts, between Kailash Satyarthi and Malala Yousafzai.

Her two best friends, who were also injured when she was shot in 2012 were Shazia Ramzan, and Kainat Riaz. Malala is influencing many young girls around the world and not just girls, she influenced me to stick up for what we believe in.
