NR Energy class schedule follows the MLSD District Calendar and the MHS bell schedule. Students are required to attend class each day, just as they do for their other regularly scheduled classes.
For the 2021-2022 school year, juniors will attend periods 1-2 and seniors will attend periods 3-4.

Juniors
Energy Systems Management
Students apply the basic principles and practices of energy generation, use, and transportation needed for managing renewable and non-renewable energy resources.
Urban Forestry
Techniques and practices promoting the care and management of trees for residential and commercial purposes. Topics include soil management, dendrology, pest management, rigging, and tree pruning and removal.
Seniors
Oil & Gas Operations
Students develop the skills applicable for the exploration, extraction and production of petroleum, natural gas and coal. Practices learned include leasing, surveying, drilling, refining, and transportation while applying monitoring and control techniques for effective environmental management in the extractive industries.
Solar & Wind
Energy Site Assessments are completed by using and interpreting resource maps, performance data, zoning requirements and interferences, installation timelines and price. Students also apply safety regulations and identify and resolve public safety issues.
2 credit hours can be earned each year, for a total of 4 credits by taking the NR Energy program. An additional 2 credits can earned for work-based learning opportunities such as job shadowing, internships, apprenticeships, and other program related work learning opportunities.
The NR Energy program is part of the Career Tech Student Organization (CTSO) called the FFA Foundation. The FFA is an intracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture, natural resources, and career success skills like leadership and personal growth.
WebXam is the online test delivery system for the Ohio Career-Technical Education Testing System. The WebXam system is the platform used to administer Ohio's Career-Technical Education (CTE) statewide tests to students in qualifying career-technical programs, such as NR Energy. Each year, students will take an end of the year test about the two content areas covered during the school year.
