It takes a village... and then some!
Many businesses, organisations and individuals have been with us since our very first event in 2023. They don't just sponsor us—they roll up their sleeves, share their expertise, donate incredible prizes, volunteer their time, open farm gates, and cheer us on every step of the way.
They're a huge part of what makes Mavora Explorer the event it is, and we couldn't be more grateful to have them in our corner.
RealNZ jumped on board for our very first Mavora Explorer in 2023 and have been backing us ever since.
From sponsoring some seriously epic spot prizes and our event medals to rolling up their sleeves on race day, they're always up for getting involved. You'll find the RealNZ crew all over the event—marshalling, helping out, cheering people on... or out on the course having a crack themselves!
We're incredibly lucky to have them in our corner, and Mavora Explorer wouldn't be quite the same without them.
RealNZ is not just a sponsor—they're part of the action, and Mavora Explorer wouldn't be quite the same without them.
Mountain Bike Southland has been part of Mavora Explorer since Day One, and if we're honest... we'd be in all sorts of trouble without them!
They take care of our online entries, keep the timing running like clockwork, generously share their knowledge and experience, and are always on hand with advice when we need it.
They're the calm heads behind the scenes while we're running around wondering where we left the cable ties......
Safe to say... there wouldn't be a Mavora Explorer without Mountain Bike Southland.
Pāmu has backed Mavora Explorer since our very first event in 2023, and we're incredibly fortunate to race across Pāmu Mararoa Station. Having access to a working farm like this is something we never take for granted—it makes Mavora Explorer the unique event it is.
Their team lends a hand in the lead-up, pitches in on race day, and is always right behind the event. They genuinely want to see competitors have an epic day, our community thrive, and our local wee school benefit from the funds raised.
They're much more than a sponsor, they're part of our crew, and we're incredibly lucky to have them on the journey.
Outside Sports has been backing Mavora Explorer since our very first event in 2023, and we're thrilled to have them along for the ride.
They generously donate some fantastic spot prizes... but that's only half the story.
Outside Sports doesn't just help fill the spot prize table—they're often out on the course helping fill the volunteer roster too!
Turns out they're just as generous with their time as they are with their prizes.
Four Square Te Anau has been backing Mavora Explorer since our first event in 2023, helping make sure nobody goes hungry (or thirsty!).
From bananas to BBQ sauce and just about everything in between, if it's on the shopping list, Four Square Te Anau has probably supplied it!
Fruit for competitors, snacks and drinks for volunteers, supplies for Mararoa School's famous BBQ, they're in the background helping keep everyone fuelled.
They're a big part of keeping the Mavora Explorer machine running.
Black Dog Bar has been backing Mavora Explorer since our first event in 2023. They generously donate great spot prizes and look after us and our competitors on Friday night as registration gets underway.
It's where race weekend really begins—catching up with old mates, meeting new ones, grabbing a bite, and soaking up the buzz before the big day.
Tailwind Nutrition NZ has also been backing Mavora Explorer since our very first event in 2023.
Whether you're chasing a podium, tackling your first half marathon or just determined to cross the finish line, Tailwind keeps you fuelled and hydrated every step of the way.
It's amazing what a good drink and a bit of determination can do.
The Heart of Mavora Explorer
While Mavora Explorer is a fundraiser for Mararoa School, it wouldn't exist without the amazing school staff, parents, students and wider community.
These are the people who roll up their sleeves and get stuck in—planning, preparing, improving and tweaking every detail throughout the year. Then, while many people are enjoying their summer holidays, they're out putting up signs, packing race gear, organising volunteers, setting up Race Base, then flipping sausages, marshalling courses and making sure everything is tiptop.
They're the engine room behind Mavora Explorer— without them, it'd just be a bunch of people standing in a paddock.
Bonisch Consultants are the clever people behind our fantastic course maps.
They're the maps you'll study, train for, show your mates... and maybe question your life choices over.
Where the Magic Happens.
These aren't just our race courses—they're working farms, and we're incredibly grateful to be welcomed onto them each year.
From farm tracks and rolling hills to creek crossings, wide-open spaces and some of the best views Southland has to offer, they provide the spectacular backdrop that makes Mavora Explorer such a unique event.
Every gate opened, every track shared and every kilometre raced is a true privilege. Thanks for trusting us with your backyard. We think it's pretty special too.
