The use of the internet is a privilege, and users are responsible for adhering to district procedures and guidelines. The district has established extensive guidelines outlining user privileges and responsibilities outlined per administrative guideline. Both a student and his/her parent/guardian are required to read, sign, and return this policy.

AUP= technology acceptable use agreement (required for all district network and technology use)
RUP = iPad use acceptable agreement (required for iPad checkout)
Students are prohibited from the
transmission, reception, production of obscene or offensive material,
access or use of chat rooms, instant messaging, or personal email accounts,
downloading or installation of unauthorized applications,
attempt to tamper with data, operating systems, desktop configurations, or applications,
unauthorized use/access other students’, staffs’, teachers’, or administrators’ user accounts,
plagiarizing material from the internet,
unauthorized access to vital system information,
deliberate attempt to disrupt the network or destroy data,
use of the Merrill High School computer network to engage in any illegal activities. District personnel may monitor student network activity at any time.

Minor Infraction Examples:
Inappropriately handling device.
Leaving device unattended/losing device.
Major Infraction Examples:
Willfully and knowingly damages a device
Permanent alterations of device or case.
Hacking iPad or modifying settings.
Turning off the bluetooth

Using an inapropriate picture for the background and/or lock-screen

Major Infraction Examples:
Modifying settings on another student’s Chromebook.
Using device for recordings that take place in restroom or locker
Searching inappropriate websites, images, videos, etc.
Communicating inappropriate videos, pictures, websites, etc.
Taking or posting pictures and videos of people without permission
