Q: Does Gmail have a mailbox size restriction?
No, there are no mailbox size restrictions for individual Gmail accounts
Q: May I still use or access Outlook?
Outlook will still be available for reference use only for a limited time (TBD)
Q: Are you migrating my existing email, contacts, and calendar to Google?
Yes, we will migrate all of your email messages, calendar events, and personal contacts from Microsoft Outlook to Google.
Q: Will there be advertisements with Google?
Ads are turned off in Google for Education services and K–12 Google for Education users don’t see ads when they use Google Search and are signed in to their Google for Education accounts.
Q: Will anyone be reading my emails during the migration from Outlook to Gmail?
No one will be reading your email during the migration. The process is automated as large volumes of mail will be transferred from one platform to another. This may be a good time to set up a personal email address if you don’t already have one and review the district’s Acceptable Use Policy.
Q: Can I use my personal Gmail account since I already use Gmail?
No, you should continue to use your same @manorisd.net email address for school-related business.
Q: Do I need to export my emails from Outlook for them to be on Gmail?
No, you don't have to do anything. All emails will be migrated for you.
Q: Can I change the order of my most recent email in a thread?
No, Gmail does not allow you to change the order of emails within a conversation thread. You can change the order of your emails in your inbox based on unread, important first, starred first, etc.
Q: What if my archived messages aren't appearing after I archive them?
When you archive an email in Gmail, the message is still included in "All Mail," so simply select the "All Mail" button on the left menu and all emails will be there for you to view.
