This is the page dedicated to the countless women who have compiled the information, done the research, and built this resource for you.
Ireland is a graduate of Manhattan College with a bachelors in Peace and Religious Studies and a minor in Arabic. Currently doing Grad degree at Queens University, Belfast. Was an intern at LWGRC from sophomore year until her graduation. During her time at Manhattan she was the Vice President of the junior class, President of Sigma Delta Tau Sorority, leader of L.O.V.E. Bethlehem in the spring, leader of Kairos in the fall, hosted of an art therapy session once a month in the Lasallian Women and Gender Resource Center, and was an assistant to the Holocaust, Genocide and Interfaith Center. The Womens Health Handbook was the brainchild of Ireland Twiggs and we wouldn't have gotten very far without her creativity and drive!
My pronouns are she/her/hers and I graduated from Manhattan College in May 2021 with my B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Women and Gender Studies. During my time at the center I mainly focused on sexual assault and intimate partner violence. My proudest contribution to the LWGRC was creating #MeToo Mondays, a support group for survivors of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and intimate partner violence. I loved interning at the center because it allowed me to pursue my passion for promoting survivor support and awareness while working alongside other passionate, social justice oriented students.
I chose to focus on sexual health for the Women's Health Handbook because it is something that is so stigmatized, most people do not feel confident talking about it or asking questions. I wanted this important information and resources to be easily accessible for students.
I am a Manhattan Alum who graduated in the Winter of 2022 with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and a double minor in Religious studies and Women and Gender Studies. My work for the Women's Health Handbook focused on consent. I feel being knowledgeable about consent and sex during your college years is vital to having a healthy relationships and sex life. My favorite part about working at the center was the community we have. Everyone there is like a family and we are all supportive of each other and the projects we are working on.
I'm a senior at Manhattan College majoring in Peace Studies and Political Science with a minor in Digital Media arts. I've been an intern at the LWGRC since Fall of 2020, and have had the pleasure to work with the lovely ladies on this page to create the Women's Health Handbook for you. As the web designer, I wanted to make a product that felt warm and open. All of these women have spent countless hours to provide you with the information on this website. Our goal was to create a place where your questions could be asked and the information is accurate and vetted. Outside of this handbook, I'm a member of Just-Peace, Scatterbomb, MC Green Club, CMSA Kairos, and more. I hope you enjoy this handbook and stop by the LWGRC in kelly to say hi!
My name is Caitlin Lambe, I am a junior at Manhattan College majoring in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations and a minor in Cultural Anthropology. My pronouns are She/Her/Hers. I am from New Jersey and am passionate about gender and justice advocacy specifically regarding ongoing issues affecting the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. My contributions to the Women's Health Handbook's pregnancy and reproductive health section align with my interest in women's overall health. Access to adequate health care or facilities regarding women's health is an ongoing issue. For this reason, I wanted to contribute information and recommendations for resources that provide health services to women, especially regarding vaginal health. My favorite aspect of the center is the ability to better the Manhattan College community and initiate necessary conversations regarding the ongoing fight for adequate diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Hi, my name is Ciara Dalton and I am a Junior at Manhattan College. I major in Psychology with a minor in Business. My pronouns are She/Her/Hers. This is my first semester interning with the LWGRC and I have enjoyed my time greatly so far. Working with powerful women in areas in which we are passionate about drives change at not only our institution, but our community as a whole. This semester I led the Clothesline Project. This project was created to give a voice to survivors of sexual assault, violence, and abuse and raise awareness of what they face. I also was on the committee for Take Back the Night, and I am currently working on a project that will create a Victim Advocacy Office in conjunction with our center. Being a survivor myself, taking part in the change we wish to see at Manhattan College is very important to me. This is why I wanted to be part of the Women’s Health Handbook, and gather research, information, and resources for those who need it and to inform those who were not aware. The WHH is a powerful initiative, as having a resource of education in a society where we greatly lack in educating women and men on women’s bodies is critical. Enjoy! :)
I am currently a sophomore at MC double majoring in Political Science and Communications with a concentration in journalism. My pronouns are she/her/hers. I began working at the center in February 2021 as an intern and am passionate about continuing my work there this year. I started last winter by becoming involved with the Women’s Health Project, and am in the process of developing a Eating Disorder and Nutrition Handbook for the Project. I am hoping to also contribute to the center’s work this year in regards to social justice, equity, and intersectional feminism. Outside of the center, I am currently the Asst. News Editor for MC’s newspaper, The Quadrangle, and an Asst. Editor in Chief for Lotus Magazine. I am also a member of the Women’s Swim and Dive team. The LWGRC has given me a connection to incredibly supportive and hardworking women that inspire me to continue my involvement at Manhattan and work towards creating a better environment for all women at MC and beyond.
Hi! My name is Emilia O’Neill, and I am a sophomore at Manhattan College, with a double major in Psychology & Spanish, and a minor in Digital Arts & Humanities. My pronouns are She/Her/Hers and I am from Delhi, a small town in Upstate, NY, tucked into the Catskill Mountains. I joined the LWGRC team as an intern in August 2021 and kicked off my first advocacy project with an Instagram series for Mental Health awareness and advocacy. Getting involved in the community and making positive change is what I am most passionate about, similar to many of the other wonderful women on the team! Make sure to stop by & visit us at the LWGRC!
