Available for all users
Once you have finished all of your preparation work, or if you have a ready-to-print pre-supported file, your final step is to export your model.
Located under the tab, you can:
Export your scene in slices, black and white images, into a file your printer will be able to print.
For some network-enabled printers, your sliced file can be sent to the printer over a LAN network.
Export your objects as a new 3D asset to include all the preparation work, such as 3D Hollowing, Holes, Supports, Raft and more! 3D Hollowing and Holes require Lychee Slicer Pro.
Export your scene in a Lychee format.
.lys - The .lys format self contains all the objects and preparation work done in Lychee Slicer.
.lyt - The .lyt format will only contain the Lychee Slicer preparation work. You must have the object files saved locally to your system.
Sometimes it can get hard to remember how your object will actually be printed, upside-down!
The Simulator feature will allow you to view every stage of your print in stunning 3D!
Change the Object Clipping between three options.
Top - Display only the selected layer and object above the current layer height.
Bottom - Display only the selected layer and below the current layer height.
Overlay - Display the entire object with the selected layer overlayed.
The 2D View will perfectly render each pixel of each slice. This will allow you to quickly scroll through all the slices to visually pick on any errors, such as small resin pockets that may negatively impact your print.
The Slice View allows you to view the object and the supports as it will be sliced layer by layer in 3D preview.
Great for making sure holes are set up correctly
Print Time
An estimated print time based on the height of the model and the Resin Profile selected.
For more accurate print times, see Print Time Override here.
Printer
The currently selected 3D printer for this slice.
You can click on the printer description "Elegoo Saturn 3 Ultra" in this example to change the printer from this screen if you have multiple 3D printers.
Resin
The currently selected resin profile for this slice.
You can click on the Resin description "SirayaTech Fast Tough" in this example to change the resin profile from this screen.
To set up your printer or resin profile check out our other guides here.
Anti-Aliasing or AA
Add Anti-Aliasing to this current Export.
It should be known that adding AA or HD AA to your Export may require a powerful modern PC. Even more so if you've selected a printer that has a print screen resolution of 8K or above.
There are three types of Anti-Aliasing to choose from:
Smooth Surfaces, Sharpen Details and Contract Blur.
To learn more about Anti-Aliasing see our other guides here.
Destination
Where, on your PC, would you like to save the sliced file?
It's highly recommended to always save the exported slice to your local HDD and not to a network drive or USB.
Slice Format
The format the export slice will be saved as. Your printer can only read and process data in this format.
Depending on the Printer selected you may have more than one format option. For example, the Saturn 3 Ultra has two different formats it can read. (.goo) and (.ctb) When available, the option is a personal preference.
Export Slices to File
Once you have selected all of the necessary settings above, you can now click on the big green button to begin slicing.
If you have a wifi enabled printer, Lychee Slicer can render the slices and then automatically send the file to your printer. There are two options available.
Send will only copy the file to the local HDD on the printer, but not start the job.
Send and Print will copy the file to the local HDD on the printer and start the print job. Make sure your printer's bed is free from any cured resin before you send a file or you may damage your 3D printer.
Export selected 3D objects as new 3D assets to include all the preparation work such as 3D Hollowing, Holes, Supports, Raft and more!
Create Holes into Exported 3D Files
Hollowing holes will be converted into Geometry on 3D Export.
Pro Feature
File Format
Export your object as an .obj or a .stl file
Save the current Lychee Slicer scene for future prints or to come back later.
Save your current scene as one of two Lychee Slicer formats.
.lys - The .lys format self contains all the objects and Lychee Slicer preparation work.
.lyt - The .lyt format will only contain the Lychee Slicer preparation work. You must have the object files saved locally on your system.
LYT is great for pre-support shops to:
Save HDD space, especially when you have several sizes of the same object.
Share your pre-supported work without sharing the objects that may have copyrights.
The At scale scene will allow you to do two really fun things!
1. Simulate the actual physical size on your display!
2. Compare your object to common household items, such as a banana, a pen or a soda can. Your banana size may vary.
Enable Physical Size Mode
Find a ruler or pair of calipers, and measure the line under Physical Size.
Enter the value that you measured in millimetres, inches, centimetres or micrometres using the drop-down to select your preferred measurement unit.
The scene will be scaled to represent the actual size that the model will be once printed! Find a pen, a can of soda or take your most recent print to try it out!
