Smart Media

Are all the images we find online free to use?

No, not all images found online are free to use. Many images are protected by copyright, which means the creator or copyright holder has the exclusive right to use, distribute, and reproduce that image. Using copyrighted images without permission can be a violation of copyright law.

It's important to understand the concept of copyright and respect the intellectual property rights of others. When looking for images online, it's advisable to use sources that provide images with clear licensing information or explicitly state that the images are free to use, such as those under Creative Commons licenses. Additionally, some websites offer stock photos that are free for personal and educational use, so students should be mindful of where they source their images and adhere to any usage restrictions or requirements.

In this section, we'll be learning how to use images in the public domain and how you can develop your own images and apply copyright to them.
