The Malden Public Schools celebrates
BLACK HISTORY MONTH
Welcome and thank you for taking some time to look at this site! We are eager to engage in the challenging work of providing equitable educational experiences with all of our families and community partners.
During February and Black History Month, we must consider how we, as educators and families in a wonderfully diverse school district, will recognize and celebrate the significance of this month. We do this work mindful that moments that highlight the contributions of Black Americans should not be relegated to one month. Instead, February reminds us of the vital and ongoing work to ensure our black students see themselves in our curriculum and provides us an opportunity for all students to learn about Black History and contributions. It also emphasizes our need to create spaces in our schools and community so that all students feel seen, safe, included, and celebrated. Our work as anti-racist educators and families, coupled with the multiple crises facing our nation, demands this intentional work from us.
This website is one step in a process to curate and share resources with staff and families in order to support our work in celebrating our diverse history and community.
