Celebrating Who We Are: Our Heritage and Our Story
The Malden Public Schools
Welcome and thank you for taking some time to look at this site! We are eager to engage in the challenging work of providing equitable educational experiences with all of our families and community partners.
Throughout the year, our nation and our community recognize, honor, and celebrate the contributions of all people, from all walks of life, in building our country. We also recognize that for many people that struggle has been inherently unequal and inequitable. Anti-racism and equity are two words that are used often, but their deeper meaning is often glossed over. As a school district we are making equity our institutional agenda. This means that our schools and our classrooms are places where all students and families are seen, heard, welcomed, and celebrated. Our curriculum and instruction provides mirrors so that our students can see themselves in their learning through the integration of diverse texts, resources, and language, and windows so that students can develop a sense of empathy with their peers who have different life experiences which are also brought into the classroom.
This website is one step in a process to curate and share resources with staff and families in order to support our work in celebrating our diverse history and community.
We hope that all of our educators and families find useful resources that help tell the story of the many cultures and lifestyles that we have in Malden and help us all become more reflective and grow in our mission to pursue equity for all those who live in our local, state, national, and global communities.
