Malden Reads

Malden Reads is a community reading organization run by city leaders and residents in collaboration with the Malden Public Library and Urban Media Arts. Each season, we invite the city of Malden, Massachusetts to read a selected book and participate in a program of events, projects, and community initiatives centered around the themes of the book.

The K-8 Libraries support the Malden Reads program each year by having copies of the age appropriate companion books available for teachers to check out and make available to their students

The main Malden Reads 2024 selection is Judith Heuman's Being Heuman : An Unrepentant Memoir of a Disability Rights Activist. In addition, ten age appropriate companion titles have been chosen and copies have been donated to the Malden Public Schools and are available either in the school's library or the Literacy Coach's office.
