FINANCIAL AID

College affordability is a crucial aspect of the college planning process. It is important to remember that there are various sources of money for college including grants, loans, work-study, and scholarships. District 207, Maine East Student Services, and the CRC offer a variety of in-building curriculum, programming, events, and services in order help students and parents understand college affordability and the financial aid process. These include (but not limited to):

  • District 207 Financial Aid Night
  • FAFSA Completion Days
  • Financial Aid counseling

FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID (FAFSA)

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) becomes available for filing starting OCTOBER 1st of every year. Seniors (and juniors that will be graduating early) that will enroll in college immediately after graduation are encouraged to file the FAFSA as close to October 1st as possible.

Have a question about the FAFSA? Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) has a new initiative to help students with any questions they may have regarding the filing process. It's a texting service (which is free) that allows you to text any financial aid question that they may have and get an answer. Through this initiative you will also receive a text when ISAC will suspend the MAP grant and other information on important upcoming events. Sign up to this free text service sponsored by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission to receive help via text message. Text your name to (847) 243-6470 to register.

For a step-by-step walk-through of the Financial Aid process, please see this document. A video walk-through of the actual FAFSA is included in the document, and can be also seen below.
