This project is funded by Maine Centers for Disease Control, University of Maine Research Reinvestment Fund and Partnership for Children's Oral Health.

The Maine Community Health Worker Initiative (MECHWI) is a statewide group that exists for and must be led by Community Health Workers (CHWs). It serves as a space where CHWs can network, learn from one another, build a shared identify, and discuss the future direction of the workforce. The purpose of the MECHWI is to support, promote, and advocate for the profession of Community Health Workers including those working under other titles. In 2022, The Maine CHW Initiative elected seven CHWs to serve on the network’s first Advisory Committee. The CHW Advisors direct decision making, lead strategic planning, build consensus, engage stakeholders, and advocate for the profession.

The Maine Public Health Association is the state’s oldest, largest, and most diverse association for public health professionals. They represent more than 500 individual members and 30 organizations across the state. As a statewide nonprofit association, they advocate, act, and advise on critical public health challenges, aiming to improve the policies, systems, and environments that underlie health inequities – but which also have potential to improve health outcomes for all people in Maine.

NMPHI serves as the leading health related, ethnic-based organization directly serving the needs of the immigrant and refugee youth and their families. They educate and empower Mainers to overcome social and health challenges.

The Partnership for Children’s Oral Health is a network of organizations and individuals united by a common vision: ensuring that all Maine children can grow up free from preventable dental disease. Creating a Maine where no child experiences dental disease will demand bold solutions, collaborative action, and system changes on many levels. The Partnership’s goal is to catalyze collaboration and innovation in order to expand Maine’s capacity to ensure that effective prevention, education, and treatment tools reach all children in Maine.
