For Employers

Employers

Dear Colleagues,

We are an interdisciplinary research team from the University of Maine System, and our partners at the Maine Community Health Worker Initiative. We are conducting a community-engaged research project to understand the challenges, opportunities and resources needed to support implementation of the Community Health Worker (CHW) model and enhance professional development opportunities for the CHW workforce.

Our goals are to understand CHWs working conditions and experiences in order to develop strategies for sustainably implementing the CHW model and strengthening the CHW workforce. We are writing to ask for your help. If your organization employs CHWs, we invite you to complete the CHW Employer Survey.

Our goal is to survey 25 organizations in a diverse range of communities and contexts. We recognize that Community Health Workers work in a variety of job titles (Peer Navigator, Promotora, Family Coach, Community Health Outreach Worker). If you are unsure if your organization employs people working in these roles, please reach out to our research team or check the project website. More information about CHWs and complete study information is available on the study website.

The survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. People who fill out the survey on behalf of their organization will receive a $20 gift card in appreciation for their time and effort. Identifying personal information (e.g. mailing address) will not be linked to responses submitted on the behalf of organizations.

The study is funded by the University of Maine System Research Reinvestment Fund and the Children’s Oral Health Network, and the Maine CDC.

Thank you so much for your time and support in this community-engaged research effort to support Maine’s CHWs.

Best,
