School Shootings in America compared to other countries:

Teachers, students, and parents have to fear everyday that they go into work, school, or drop their kids off at school, that their child may not return home to them that day, or they may not make it out of the school that day. As you see below here are graphs and statistics that show the severity in violence within schools compared to other countries around the world.

America as a country averages one school shooting a week as it stands in 2022. 80-90% of all school shootings that happen, take place in America. Today, the US holds the highest civilian gun ownership in the world. As of right now the rate of school shootings in the US stands at 288, behind the US falls two to France and Canada, and One to Germany, China, and Russia. As a teen myself, growing up through the early 2000’s into 2022, this fear is a reality I have lived constantly as I entered my school daily. For me and teens all across America, that fear is only subsided by knowing “drills” on what to do preparing for what could happen to us at any waking minute, all while trying to get an education. From lockdowns, lockouts, safety procedures, and active intruder preparation, we grew up in a country where this was “normal”.

A video detailing the continued struggle for change to be made regarding school shootings. Reflecting upon another year with growing numbers only continuing to be on the rise.

To this day, will a parent ever feel 100% confident enough that when they drop their child off at school, they will be able to pick them up that same very day?

No child should ever have to fear that they may not be safe in a place they receive education. No child should sit in a classroom thinking where they could hide if a gunman comes in and opens fire.

What feelins arise when you hear of yet another school shooting that has happened in the US?
