Discussing the issue and how to resolve it with people within the sport is great, but if we are to expand popularity we need to get people who were not first engaged, to wanting to be. That is exactly why I have asked my close friend, Dom Vito, to give me his two-cents on why he believes there is a disconnect between the US and Track & Field.
What I walked away with from my conversation with Dom is that the track community is steering in the right direction. Dom talked about how he believes social media is a huge platform that could be expanded by runners. Also the emergence of more running content Youtube channels to help build a story and character behind competitors. Both ideas are what all my other participants have put forth, which leads me to believe that the community understands what is not only best for itself but also for outside engagement.
