Purpose
The International Singles Studies Association (ISSA) is dedicated to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and intellectually vibrant community for everyone engaged with the study of singlehood across academic disciplines, professional sectors, and cultural contexts.
Scope
This suggested code applies to participants, regardless of ISSA membership status, in events in which ISSA is the primary sponsor, as well as in its online venues.
● Events primarily sponsored by ISSA (whether in-person, virtual, or hybrid), regardless of membership status, including attendees, speakers, exhibitors, sponsors, staff, volunteers, and contractors.
● ISSA-sponsored online venues.
Encouraged Behavior (Within the Defined Scope)
All individuals participating in activities outlined in the Scope section are expected to:
● Treat diverse perspectives and contributions with respect and consideration.
● Communicate professionally and constructively, avoiding demeaning, discriminatory, bullying, or harassing behavior or language.
● Respect the intellectual property rights of others by properly attributing ideas and materials used or shared.
● Comply with all applicable laws and ISSA-specific policies.
In the event that an individual feels that their physical safety is in jeopardy, ISSA encourages the individual to contact the appropriate authorities.
If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code, ISSA encourages you to: 1) inform a Board member; and 2) discuss possible next steps with that Board member. Contact information for Board members is available here.
ISSA does not have any role or authority in investigating or adjudicating grievances for issues occurring outside of ISSA. We are not a regulatory agency, and we have no investigative arm.

By participating in ISSA programs, all members and attendees acknowledge that they have read and understood this Code.
