The Kent County Food Policy Council was established in 2021 and has since united residents, organizations, agencies, institutions, and businesses to champion and advance a robust food system in Kent County, Michigan. Their vision encompasses a flourishing economy, equity, and sustainability for Kent County residents, achieved through a food system deeply ingrained in local communities and focused on quality nourishment – food that is accessible, equitable, fair, healthy, diverse, and sustainable.
Our project and goals
Our project is aimed at researching and collecting information on the history on food systems in Kent County. The goal is to provide context for further projects and to understand what problems need to be addressed. We will be compiling information on individual aspects of the food system and producing a document that the Kent County Food Policy Council can use for further research, grants, etc. We will also be creating a pamphlet, brochure and other tabling document to display the work that the organization is doing and how it helps the community. Our final project will consist of the gathered information, a final report and an external grant application.

The brochure will provide extensive information on who and what Kent County Food Policy wants to do for the community. This brochure will provide the history of Kent County, what has been accomplished already and finally, what the future plans are for the Kent County food system.

Through our pamphlet, we hope to provide context and information about the Kent County Food Policy Council. We want to inform people about who they are, what they have done and the purpose of our project.

Through our postcard, we aim to extend a personal invitation to community members, encouraging them to participate in and explore the food system within Kent County.
