"It is not about being the best, it's all about being better than you were yesterday!"
Classroom culture is the overall environment in the classroom that we create so we can be under the same rules and values that we all want! There are many things in our class that we believe in like keep your hands and feet to yourself, treating everyone how you want to be treated, actively participate in the activities and more! All of these things are contributing factors for our classroom and how they contribute to the classroom culture. Having a classroom culture is important because that is something everyone can follow and understand what we should be doing and how we should be doing things. A lot of the things in our classroom culture can guide students on how to become better everyday while actively following the culture we created.
This is how we will have our attendance/roll call arrangements. We will be in alphabetical order starting from 1 through 36 or however many students we have in each class. I chose this arrangement because it is very easy for me to do roll as I can see in order who is here for the day to participate in activities and who is not. It also helps everyone stay organized because as time goes on, you will all remember who is near you and where you should be. Then we can do this arrangement anywhere because everyone will know what to do. Also, I can speak to everyone as you are all in a group together.
I am a person who loves being in groups or pairs for activities because it is cool to see what others can bring to the table. I will typically have cones set up so we can do some sort of warm up or icebreaker to start the activity and so we can all be ready to have a good time in class.
I will keep a board outside of my office so that everyone is aware of what we will be doing for that week of activities! I will make sure I have the day, class and activity with a slight description and keywords on what we will work on. For example, "Tuesday/PE 10 Period 5/Soccer/Fundamentals of Passing and Dribbling" is how I will try to organize the board.
This example is similar to how I will keep track of who is doing lots of positive actions in the classroom and there will be things on my wall about how PE is beneficial and how to succeed in the class. A lot of these things remind me everyday about our classroom culture and how to continue to strive for more!
