The Pond

This is our presentation video, going into detail about how the Pond and Hydroponics group have collaborated to help benefit and better the school's pond experience.

The Beginning:

Our idea going into this was very scattered but we had one focused idea that we wanted to do. We wanted the pond to be a lot clearer than what it looks like at the time. We also confirmed that we wanted the pond to be a small ecosystem and in order to do that it needs to be self-sustainable.

First, we wanted the pond to look clearer. The idea was to get the muck (dirt, water, plant parts, and fish feces) that was present in the pond out of it as well as identifying the plants around the pond to see if they helped or not. If so we left them there and if not they would be pulled to make room for helpful plants to clear the pond and keep it healthy. To do this we would use the pool cleaning net that was there in order to scoop the muck out of the pond and put it in buckets to be transported to a different location. For the plants, we used the plant books in Mr. Eller’s room in order to identify them.
